Creating Assignments

Getting to the Assignment Creator

You can start creating an assignment from two places: the Teacher Dashboard (look for the "Create Assignment" button) or the Class Detail page (which also has a "Create Assignment" option). Either path takes you to the same two-step assignment creation flow.

Step 1: Configure Your Assignment

The configuration step is where you define what the assignment looks like and who receives it. Here are the settings you will work with:

  • Select class — Choose which class the assignment is for. You can optionally select specific students within the class if you do not want to assign it to everyone.
  • Math topic — Use the topic selector to choose the subject area (e.g., Addition, Fractions, Algebra, Geometry). The available topics depend on your subscription plan.
  • Difficulty — Choose from Easy, Medium, Hard, or Mixed. Mixed difficulty generates a blend of problems across all three levels.
  • Number of problems — Set anywhere from 1 to 50 problems per assignment.
  • Assignment mode — Choose Same for all (every student gets identical problems) or Unique per student (each student gets randomly generated problems for the same topic and difficulty). See the Assignment Modes Explained article for details.
  • Hide Answers — Toggle this on to prevent students from seeing the solutions until they have submitted their work.
  • Due date — Optionally set a deadline. Students will see the due date on their Assignments page.

Step 2: Preview and Assign

After configuring your settings, the system generates a set of problems for you to review. On the Preview screen you can:

  • Review the problems — Scroll through to make sure they are appropriate for your students.
  • Show or hide answers — Toggle the answer key on and off to check correctness.
  • Regenerate — Click the "Regenerate" button to get a fresh set of problems while keeping all of your configuration settings intact.

When you are satisfied with the problems, click Assign to distribute the assignment to your students. Students will see the assignment on their Assignments page immediately.

Tip: Use the "Regenerate" button liberally. If the first batch of problems feels too easy or too hard for your class, regenerate until you get a set that matches the level you want.
