Creating Classes
Adding a Class to a School
Classes live inside schools. To create a new class, first click on a school name in the left column of the Teacher Dashboard to open its school detail page. On that page you will see an Add Class form. Enter a name for your class — for example, "Math 101," "Advanced Algebra," or "3rd Grade Arithmetic" — and click the Add Class button.
Automatic Join Codes
Every class is automatically assigned a unique 6-character join code when it is created. You do not need to set this code yourself — the system generates it for you. The join code appears on the class detail page in a monospace font so it is easy to read and distinguish similar-looking characters. Next to the code you will find a Copy button that copies the code to your clipboard with a single click.
What Classes Contain
Each class serves as a container for two things: students and assignments. Once students join your class using the join code, they appear in your class roster. You can then create assignments that are distributed to all students in the class (or specific students you select). Student scores, submission status, and analytics are all tracked at the class level.
Creating Multiple Classes
You can create as many classes as you need within a single school. This lets you separate students by grade level, subject, or ability group. For example, you might have:
- Math 101 — For students working on foundational arithmetic.
- Advanced Algebra — For students ready for more challenging material.
- Test Prep — A temporary class for exam preparation.
Tip: Use descriptive class names that clearly indicate the level or topic. This makes it easier to manage multiple classes and helps students confirm they have joined the right one.
