Playing Sudoku
Getting Started with Sudoku
LifeSchoolers includes interactive Sudoku puzzles as a fun way to build logical thinking skills. You can find Sudoku in the Activities menu in the header navigation.
Choosing a Difficulty
When you start a new puzzle, choose from three difficulty levels:
- Easy — More cells are pre-filled, making it a good starting point. Great for beginners or younger students.
- Medium — A balanced challenge with fewer given numbers. Requires some logical deduction.
- Hard — Minimal starting numbers. Requires advanced techniques like candidate elimination and naked pairs.
How to Play
Click or tap any empty cell to select it, then type a number (1-9) or tap the number buttons below the grid. The goal is to fill every row, column, and 3x3 box with the digits 1 through 9 without repeating any number.
Pencil Marks
Toggle pencil mode to add small candidate numbers to a cell. This helps you track which numbers are still possible in each cell without committing to an answer. Click a pencil mark again to remove it.
Undo & Redo
Made a mistake? Use the Undo button to step back through your moves. You can also Redo if you went too far.
Hints
If you are stuck, use the Hint button to reveal the correct number for one cell. Hints fill in the answer and highlight the cell briefly so you can learn from the pattern.
Timer
A timer at the top tracks how long the puzzle takes. Your time is saved when you complete the puzzle so you can try to beat your personal best.
Error Highlighting
If you enter a number that conflicts with another number in the same row, column, or 3x3 box, it will be highlighted in red. This helps you catch mistakes early before they cascade through the puzzle.
Completion
When every cell is filled correctly, the puzzle auto-checks and shows your completion time. Completed Sudoku puzzles are saved to your History page alongside your math worksheets.
Note: Sudoku is a Premium feature. You need a Premium or Teacher plan to access it.
