Changing Your Password
How to Change Your Password
You can change your password at any time from the Account Settings page. Keeping your password up-to-date is an important part of protecting your account, especially if you share a computer with others.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Navigate to Account Settings by clicking your profile icon in the top-right corner and selecting Account Settings.
- Click the Change Password button in the account details section.
- In the form that appears, enter your current password in the first field. This is required to verify your identity before making changes.
- Enter your new password in the second field. Your new password must be at least 8 characters long.
- Type your new password again in the Confirm New Password field to make sure there are no typos.
- Click the Update Password button to save your new password.
A green success message will appear at the top of the page confirming that your password has been updated. You will remain logged in on your current device, but any other active sessions will continue to work until they expire naturally.
Forgot Your Current Password?
If you do not remember your current password, you cannot use the Change Password form because it requires your existing password for verification. Instead, log out and click the Forgot Password link on the login page. Enter your email address and you will receive a password reset link. Follow the link to set a brand-new password without needing the old one.
Password Best Practices
Tip: Choose a password that is easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. A good approach is to use a passphrase — a sequence of four or more random words. Avoid using common passwords like “password123” or personal information like your birthday.
